About Me

Estudió cursos de fotografía en el International Center of Photography y Video en Newsreel (New York), y producción cinematográfica en la New York University. Previamente cursó estudios de ingeniería industrial en la Universidad de Lima y de cinematografía en la academia de  Armando Robles Godoy. 

Trabajos fotográficos suyos se encuentran en numerosos colecciones incluyendo del Brooklyn Museum of Art N.Y.), Houston Museum of Fine Art, Peruvian-North American Institute (Lima), National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center (Ohio), The Library of Congress (Washington DC), y mas. 

Es autor de cinco libros fotográficos: El eterno retorno (2002), Fotografía corporal por Salcedo (2003), A la sombra del guarango (2007), Los Huamachucos, Testimonio de una Cultura Ancestral (2013), Historias Iluminadas, 30 años de Fotografía y Cine 1985-2015 (2015), y “Descubriendo Raíces” (2010).

En el 2007 produjo y dirigió su primer documental largo El fuego eterno, historia de la inmigración judía a las selvas del Perú en la época del boom del caucho hacia el siglo XIX. Así como de cuatro cortos documentales “Amazonas” (2011); “Conversando con mi comadre Tila” (2012); “Roberto Guerra, a Life” (2014) y “Guzman y el Mar” (2015). Desde el 2010 es Director, Productor  y Curador de la muestra anual de cine peruano New York Peruvian Film Showcase que se lleva a cabo en el Instituto Cervantes de New York.

Mr. Salcedo is a filmmaker and photographer with 35 years experience. Trained concurrently as a photographer at the International Center of Photography in New York and filmmaker at Newsreel and New York University. Previously studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Lima and cinematography with Armando Robles Godoy academy in Lima.

His works now form part of the collections of numerous museums including; Brooklyn Museum of Art N.Y.), Houston Museum of Fine Art, Peruvian-North American Institute (Lima), National Afro-American Museum & Cultural Center (Ohio), The Library of Congress (Washington DC), and more. 

He has published five photographic books: “The Eternal Return, Portrait of the Jewish Peruvian Community" (Peru, 2002), “Mummies, body photography by Salcedo”, “In the Shade of the Guarango Tree: Portrait of the Afro-Peruvian Community”, “The Huamachucos, Testimony of an Ancient Culture”, Stories in Light, 30 Years of Photography and Film 1985-2015”, and“Discovering Roots” (Lima, 2010).

In 2007 Mr. Salcedo directed and produced one long documentary film titled “The Fire Within, Jews in the Amazonian Rainforest”, history of jewish immigration to the jungle of Peru at the time of the rubber boom towards the 19th century. Also directed and produced four short documentary films: “Amazon” (2011); “Taking with my friend Tila” (2012); “Roberto Guerra, a Life” (2014); and “Guzman and the Sea” (2015). Since 2010, he is the Director, Producer and Curator of the annual New York Peruvian Film Showcase that take place at the Cervantes Institute of New York City.
